The Wenchuan Earthquake

The next table uses the word זועה, the word the Gemara uses for earthquake. It has a phrase for the destruction of cities, and thousands of men died. Continuing with our theme that God brings earthquakes to the world when the Jews are not living in a Torah correct manner, there is a verse at the bottom of the table that is relevant. The verse begins off the table. You shall not follow after gods of others, of the gods of the people that are around you. And then in the table the verse continues, For a jealous God is God, your God, amoung you -- lest be kindled the wrath of God your God against you.
There is another relevant verse in this table. This verse comes from the story of Korah who rebelled against Moses. The earth opened up and he and his followers were swallowed up by the earth. Following this verse, the Israelites ran away from the pits which had swallowed up Korah and his followers. And they said Lest the earth swallow us (Numbers 16: 34). This is shown in the next table.
Another alternative phrase for earthquake is to use the word ארץ which also means earth in place of the word אדמה in the phrase רעידת ארץ. The next table shows that in fact this phrase also works for the initial table. With expected number of ELSs set to 25, the probability that a text from the ELS random placement text population would produce as compact a table as that produced by the Torah text is 23/1,000.
